1 PhD student in the research education subject: Soil and Environmental sciences
Mitigation of phosphorus losses från agricultural land with focus on applications of organic fertilisers and use of catch crops.
The objective of the Ph D project is to: i) estimate phosphorus leaching from a manured sandy soil by long-term measurements and model simulations; ii) carry on long-term experiments with phosphorus leaching from sandy topsoils treated with repeated or single pig slurry applications; iii) study phosphorus leaching from sandy and clayey soils treated with a single application of pig slurry; iv) study phosphorus leaching from topsoil lysimeters with catch crops under repeated freeze-thaw cycles; and v) carry on experiments with phosphorus release from shoots and roots of catch crops under repeated freeze-thawing cycles.
Qualifications
The successful candidate should have Bachelor of Science and have taken Master of Science courses at SLU specifically dealing with Soil Nutrient Abundance Index and evaluation of soil nutrients. In addition, the candidate should have two years post-graduate studies in Soil and Environmental science focussed on Water Quality Management and also more than two years experience of experimental work with topics ii) ?v). Moreover, the successful candidate should within a few months have had a half-time seminar as PhD student and have one accepted scientific article which is relevant for the position.

Selection among applicants meeting the requirements is made with reference to written application including curriculum vitae, copies of degrees and transcripts of academic records, one copy of the dissertation for masters or undergraduate degree, a list of at least two references familiar with the applicant's qualifications, certified knowledge of the English language and an interview.
