For the research topic Physiotherapy we are looking for a PhD student for the project Sustainable Innovations for Children Travelling Actively SICTA 3.0
Project description
We are looking for a PhD student with an interest in increasing children's physical activity and specifically children's healthy and independent school trips. Only a minority of children in Sweden reach the targets in the WHO recommendation on daily physical activity, and there is a global trend of decreasing levels, which makes it urgent to find sustainable solutions to reverse this trend. Healthy and independent mobility, for example walking or cycling, is an effective way for children to increase physical activity. Social norms can shape and reinforce health-promoting behaviors. There is currently a gap in knowledge about how social norms influence health behavior when it comes to children's physical activity and especially independent active mobility. Knowledge of how social norms for children, youth, and critical others, such as parents, affect children's health and well-being is required to design, implement, and evaluate interventions that attempt to influence their health-related behaviors. This project aims to increase knowledge about how social norms in a digital age interact with health behaviour, which here specifically refers to children's healthy and independent mobility. The project will explore children's and parents' social norms by developing instruments to measure social norms and developing and evaluating the effect of an intervention aimed at promoting social norms related to children's healthy and independent mobility.
