School of Education, Culture and Communication
The School of Education, Culture and Communication has an opening for a PhD student position in mathematics/applied mathematics within the strategic research direction MERO (Miljö, energi och resursoptimering) (Environment, energy and resource optimization).
The applicant is expected to work in the research area of applied matrix analysis and strengthen applications of mathematics and interdisciplinary cooperation within MERO. We are looking thus for a future mathematician with good knowledge of matrix algebra or algebra interested in development of applications of matrix analysis.
The project leader is Professor Sergei Silvestrov.
Qualifications
Only a person who is currently admitted to, or is going to be admitted to, third-cycle studies at a higher education institution may be employed as a doctoral student. For further information, see the Higher Education Ordinance, chapter 5. The requirement for admission to third-cycle studies is a minimum of four years of university studies, corresponding to a bachelor or master?s degree, depending on the country of education. We are looking for a person with a degree in mathematics, or a civil engineer with a considerable amount of mathematics in his or her degree as well as mathematical research skills that have been demonstrated, for example, in a degree project.
