The Department of Physics, Chemistry and Biology conducts research and offers education at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. PhD student in Materials science and Thin Film Physics
formally based at the Department of Physics, Chemistry and Biology (IFM)
Duties
As a PhD student, you will develop new synthesis routes for boron nitride thin films by Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) from choice of precursors. For the deposited thins films you will apply advanced materials characterization to determine growth-structure-properties relationships. The focus is on thin film growth, but with the possibility to work with chemical synthesis of tailored precursors.
As a PhD student you will primarily devote yourself to your research. As a PhD student you are limited to work with education and administration up to 20 percent of full time.
Qualifications
Qualified to PhD studentships are only those who are or have been admitted to graduate studies.
The applicant should hold a Master degree (or equivalent) in materials physics or materials chemistry. As particularly meriting for the position we find, experience and hands-on knowledge in thin film synthesis by CVD and materials characterization by the techniques thin film XRD, SEM, TEM, and XPS
Solid knowledge in English written and spoken language is a requirement for the position.
Appointment time
The appointment will be until further notice for a maximum of one year at a time. A doctoral student may not be employed during a period exceeding eight years. The total time of appointment must not exceed the equivalent of four years ' full time research training.

By agreement.
Salary
The salary for PhD students is based on the department's salary scale.
