1 PhD student in the research education subject: Landscape Management
Public Involvement in Urban Green Space Management
Involvement of local communities in urban green space planning and management is increasingly demanded and encouraged by local and national authorities. There are many types of urban green spaces and similarly types of participation vary from bottom-up to top-down processes. This PhD project will study the interaction between different types of urban green spaces and involvement set-ups and how this influences 1) the green space quality, 2) the personal motivation for engagement, and 3) the overall societal benefits. The aim is to develop tools for professional practice that can unlock citizens potential to contribute with creative ideas, skills and local knowledge as means to facilitate long-term engagement in management of urban green spaces. The research is intended to apply different research methods for data collection including interview techniques, inventories and analysis of urban green space, national surveys questionnaires. The PhD Student will work within a multidisciplinary research team at the Department of Landscape Management, Design and Construction in Alnarp. The position is full-time and will be granted for a period of four years, starting as soon as possible.
Qualifications
Applicants must have an MSc exam (minimum 4 years full time university studies) with emphasis on landscape planning or equivalent. There will be a merit if the applicant has experience with interviews and landscape analysis, and solid understanding of governance of urban green spaces. Prior experiences from research projects and teaching at university level will also be well regarded. The applicant should have good communication skills in both oral and written scientific English.

A person has basic eligibility for third level education if he or she has taken a second level qualification or has completed course requirements of at least 240 higher education credits, including at least 60 higher education credits at second level.
Those who met the requirements for general eligibility before July 1st, 2007, i.e. had completed a programme of higher education for at least 180 Higher education credits or the equivalent, will continue to do so until the end of 2015."
Selection among applicants meeting the requirements is made with reference to written application including curriculum vitae, copies of degrees and transcripts of academic records, one copy of the dissertation for masters or undergraduate degree, a list of at least two references familiar with the applicant's qualifications, certified knowledge of the English language and an interview.
