PhD student in Energy Materials, Thin Film Physics
Formally based at the Department of Physics, Chemistry and Biology (IFM), Linköping University, Linköping, Sweden.
Duties
The Energy Materials group of the Thin Film Physics Division conducts fundamental and application-inspired studies of thin-film materials for energy applications, with emphasis on thermoelectrics and ionic conductors. The present position, funded by an ERC Starting Grant, will involve studies in the areas of fundamental materials science studies of thermoelectric thin films, in particular growth by magnetron sputtering, epitaxy, and properties. The specifics of the position and project will be decided in consensus and adapted to the interests and background of the applicant. We collaborate extensively with theoreticians, and depending on the applicant's interests, the present position may include a theoretical part in guidance and interplay with experiments.
As a PhD student you will primarily devote yourself to your research. As a PhD student you are limited to work with education and administration up to 20 percent of full time.
Qualifications
M.Sc. in applied physics, materials science, or similar.
Appointment time
The appointment will be until further notice for a maximum of one year at a time. A doctoral student may not be employed during a period exceeding eight years. The total time of appointment must not exceed the equivalent of four years' full time research training.
