1 PhD student in the research education subject: Ecology
The effects of an invasive algal species (Gonyostomum semen) on the biodiversity and food webs of lakes.
Applications are encouraged for a 4-year PhD-student position focusing on understanding the effects of an invasive algal species (Gonyostomum semen) on the biodiversity and food webs of lakes. Extensive long term monitoring data show this algal species to be dispersing in lakes in southern Sweden. Once established the species often dominates the algal community and we anticipate profound changes in ecosystem structure and function.
Qualifications: An undergraduate degree in biology/limnology or other relavant subjects. Good skills in writing, experience of field work, and good knowledge of community ecology and aquatic food webs is meriting. Projected studies include both the analyses of long-term data and experimental field work. Written applications should include a CV, copies of exams and other relevant supplements, personal references, and a copy of your MSc. thesis.
Form for funding or employment: 1st year grant (utbildningsbidrag) and 20% employment, 2nd-4th year full employment (doktorandtjänst)

A person has basic eligibility for third level education if he or she has taken a second level qualification or has completed course requirements of at least 240 higher education credits, including at least 60 higher education credits at second level. Those who met the requirements for general eligibility before July 1st, 2007, i.e. had completed a programme of higher education for at least 120 credits or the equivalent, will continue to do so until the end of 2015."
Selection among applicants meeting the requirements is made with reference to written application including curriculum vitae, copies of degrees and transcripts of academic records, one copy of the dissertation for masters or undergraduate degree, a list of at least two references familiar with the applicant's qualifications, certified knowledge of the English language and an interview.
