hela Sverige Applications are invited for a PhD student position in Computer Science at Mälardalen University, Sweden. The research area is computational intelligence, with special emphasis on evolutionary algorithms for learning and optimization and their industrial applications. The work will be performed within a new research project: EMOPAC, funded by the Swedish Knowledge Foundation.
The project will be focused on creating and implementing more efficient evolutionary computing techniques via integrated learning and optimization. The result of the research will be applied and tested in tasks of industrial domains such as designing optimal analog circuits given multiple objectives and constraints. The research will be conducted in collaboration with three companies: ABB FACTS, Prevas and VG Power.
The successful candidate will be employed as a PhD student at Mälardalen University. A limited amount of teaching may also be part of the PhD student's duties.
Qualifications
In addition to a clear interest in the above research topic, the successful applicant must have a strong background in computer science and solid programming skills. She/he must have or is about to obtain a Master degree (or equivalent) in computer science or computer engineering. Prior knowledge and experience with evolutionary computation and fuzzy system is a good advantage. Knowledge of the Swedish language is not required, but proficiency in written and spoken English is mandatory.
Only someone who can be or already has been enrolled for PhD studies at a university can be employed at a PhD position.
