Chalmers is a university of technology in which research and teaching are conducted on a broad front within technology, natural science and architecture. Currently there are approximately 11 000 students and 2400 employees at Chalmers.
The department for Chemical and biological engineering performs education and research for sustainable development, for improved health and quality of life. Our research covers widely within out field, ranging from natural science and bioscience, applied chemistry and biotechnology to chemical engineering. Our educational programs are characterized by technological solutions for improving people's everyday life, and are continuously developed for meeting and pushing societal and industrial development.
We are now looking for a Ph.D. student to be placed in the division of Bioanalytical Chemistry at Chalmers University of Technology.
Job description
The research project will involve development and characterization of chemically selective sensor electrodes by modification of the electrode surface with enzyme conjugated nanomaterials. The aim is to apply these sensors for monitoring neurochemical release from single cells and in vivo in Drosophila melanogaster and in C. elegans. Electrochemical methods will be used to characterize the sensors and for neurochemical measurements at cells and in vivo.
Qualifications
The successful candidate should have a M. Sc. in Chemistry, Chemical engineering, Biochemistry, Nanoscience/technology, Biotechnology or an equivalent education. Knowledge in electrochemistry or biochemistry is a merit for the position but not a requirement. Good knowledge in English is required and the applicant should be able to communicate scientific results orally as well as in written form.
