Would you like to deepen your knowledge and earn a PhD within heat losses from Diesel combustion?

NMPF is responsible for research and advance development within the area of internal combustion engines at Scania. One of our most important goals is to develop technical solutions that leads to high thermal efficiency for our future engine portfolio. Today, NMPF, consists of 8 highly competent engineers responsible for the development of Scania's future combustion and after treatment systems.

We are looking for a person with a desire to deepen their knowledge within internal combustion engines with a focus on heat losses from Diesel combustion.

The project is performed in close cooperation with KTH where most of the research activities are planned to be conducted.

Objectives
The main objective with this project is to build knowledge within heat losses from Diesel combustion with the goal to improve the thermal efficiency of our future engines.
The heat losses from Diesel combustion are coming from both heat convection and soot radiation whereof the latter is still not fully understood. An important part of this project will be to analyze the heat losses from soot radiation for different conditions and hardware designs. The working tasks includes using and developing new optical measuring techniques and tools. You will spend most of your time at KTH with the goal to reach a PhD within the area "heat losses from Diesel combustion"

Your profile
You have a master in science degree and a strong will to reach PhD.
We are looking for a person that wants to deepen their knowledge within internal combustion engines with a focus on understanding heat losses from Diesel combustion.
You should have experience of engine development / testing and general interest within the area engines, combustion, heat losses and efficiency optimization.
