Decisions regarding employment of doctoral students can be found in the Swedish National Higher Education Ordinance 5 Chap. 1-7 §§. The doctoral student is expected to actively participate in the research and teaching environment and might have up to 20 per cent departmental duties, such as teaching.
The general requirements for third-cycle (doctoral) education are that the student has:
1) received a second-cycle higher education degree;
2) completed course requirements of at least 240 higher education credits, of which at least 60 higher education credits are second-cycle; or
3) in some other way, nationally or internationally, acquired equivalent knowledge.
Specific requirements
• A second-cycle degree in IMER or in another subject relevant to IMER.
• Ability to express oneself in written and spoken English is essential.
The Department of Global Political Studies is a multidisciplinary research and teaching environment comprising seven subject areas: European Studies, Peace and Conflict Studies, Gender Studies, International Migration and Ethnic Relations (IMER), International Relations, Human Rights, and Political Science. The department's degree programmes and research activities focus on global processes of change and the specific and evolving consequences for societies and individuals.
