The Division of Materials Science at Luleå University of Technology, Sweden, has a
PhD-student position available for research on the use of biobased nanomaterials like nanocellulose and nanochitin in water cleaning technology. Nanostructured materials separated from bioresources are an exciting research field. These materials can be used as functional additives or reinforcement in different biopolymers to obtain desired properties. In this project we wish to expand our successful work in the area of processing of novel biobased nanocomposites to a new application area, viz. membranes.
This project is a part of EU FP7 program, NanoSelect. You will be based at Luleå University of Technology and will collaborate with our partners in Sweden and other parts of Europe. We can offer well-equipped laboratory facilities for performing research in bionanomaterials and good industrial and academic network in Sweden and Europe. The project is for 4 years.

Eligibility??
We seek PhD student with a Masters degree in Material science, Chemical engineering, Polymer engineering (or an equivalent degree). Experience in nanocomposite processing and charaterisation of structure (AFM, SEM, TEM), X-ray diffraction, mechanical properties, thermal properties etc are expected. Knowledge in transport phenomena, unit operations and chemical reaction engineering will be considered advantageous.
We are looking for candidates capable of conducting high quality research and focused and have capacity to work independently as well as in teams.
