This project will draw from the fields of materials science, electronics, chemistry, physics and biology to design and test new laboratory separation systems that can be both scaled-up for use in industrial production and scaled down for use in microfluidic devices and -TAS systems.
A PhD student receives a position which is simultaneously employment at the university and a course of study. In addition to driving his/her own research (primarily in the laboratory), the student will also attend courses to further his/her education and teach undergraduate courses (typically 10% or less).
Requirements: A masters degree or equivalent is required to enter the PhD program. Candidates with a degree in chemistry, physics, electronics, technical biology or similar fields will be considered most qualified. Laboratory and/or development experience will also be merited. Familiarity with English, both written and spoken, is required.
