hela Sverige The PhD student will be hosted by RISE SICS Stockholm and will be enrolled in Uppsala University. RISE - Research Institutes of Sweden is the largest public-sector research institute in Sweden with over 2700 employees, ~30% PhDs. RISE has an annual turnover of ~2.5 Billion SEK. Furthermore, RISE is owner and partner in 60% of all Sweden's test and demonstration facilities. RISE is an independent state-owned research institute offering unique expertise for future-proof technologies, products and services.The computer science part of RISE, SICS, is at the forefront of ICT research and development. SICS performs applied ICT research, knowledge creation and innovation through the deployment of new services and products. Results are disseminated through our partnership or through test beds and demonstrators. SICS's collective expertise includes cybersecurity, machine learning, sensors and actuators, communication networks and data analytics to visualization, interaction design and service development.The student will be placed in the SICS Security Lab that is among the largest public-sector cybersecurity research group in Sweden. Our core areas of expertise are: IoT Security, Cloud Security, Communication Security, Access Control, Privacy (technical and social aspects), and Secure Virtualization and Trusted Computing. The Security Lab is the European leader in IoT security research & development. The lab members are working on IoT security since 2009 and is currently running ten (10) IoT security projects.Uppsala University is a comprehensive research-intensive university with a strong international standing. Uppsala University has 42,000 students, 7,000 employees and a turnover of SEK 6.7 billion.Project DescriptionThe PhD student will be a part of the EU H2020 CONCORDIA Project team. CONCORDIA aims to facilitate the establishment of the EU cybersecurity centre by providing, such as, a roadmap, governance structure, a working models and demos of public-private-defence partnership. The scientific and technological dimension of CONCORDIA lies in identifying cutting-edge technologies to address cybersecurity threats and vulnerabilities, to rethink cybersecurity approaches in terms of reducing the attack surface, to make the attack surface dynamic, to automate the detection, risk assessment and mitigation, to investigate the prediction and prevention of cyber-attacks, and to develop and implement cybersecurity certification framework.The project aims to develop a cost-effective and practical IoT security certification framework that covers both initial auditing and certification as well as fully automated security certification after each software updates. It will develop an IoT certification life-cycle that automates software updates -> auditing with remote attestation -> certification. We plan to work in close collaboration with ENISA and help in the implementation of EU Cybersecurity Act with focus on Cybersecurity Certification schemes. It is worth mentioning that RISE is also a certification body.RequirementsThe candidate must have (at the time of the start of the PhD position) a Master of Science degree in computer science or related areas relevant to the PhD project topics. Expertise and experience in cybersecurity, IoT, and embedded systems will be significant part of the selection process. Excellent study results, in particular in cybersecurity subjects, good programming skills, good communication skills, good command of both spoken and written English, are requiredAppointment periodThe position is for four years but may be extended by lab duties (at most 20%). The PhD education also includes participation in relevant courses.Working in SwedenSweden is a fantastic place for living and working. Swedes are friendly and speak excellent English. Healthcare is free after a small co-pay and RISE provides additional occupational health services and subsidizes athletic costs, such as a gym membership.
