hela Sverige Do you want to contribute in a project which aim to create new information about the Swedish building stock that are useful for societal studies?
We are looking for a person who wants to work in cutting-edge machine learning technologies in the application of building sciences. You are going to be an integrated part of a research environment and team, including several researchers at RISE. The position is in Gothenburg.
About the position
The PhD student project is financed by Stiftelsen för Strategisk Forskning (SSF) for four years. The purpose of the project is to create new information about the Swedish building stock with machine learning. An example of such information is the risk of finding hazardous materials such as asbestos or PCBs in the buildings. This data is collected from various regional data bases and be used together with existing national building-specific data to find general patterns about the building stock. The created information will be useful for various societally related studies, e.g. designing cost-effective renovation policies of the building stock etc.
The position is planned to start during spring. The geographical location is the RISE office at Sven Hultins plats 5, Gothenburg.
Your academic residence will be Chalmers University.
Your profile
You have a M.Sc. or similar educational level in data science, applied mathematics and statistics, electrical engineering, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, environmental engineering or similar with a strong study record. For this position, knowledge and skills in statistics, modelling, and data analytics are strongly recommended, especially in combination with knowledge or interest in the built environment and energy systems.
The PhD student needs to be able to work independently. The position also requires good communication and cooperation skills.
English fluency is a requirement. Being fluent in Swedish is an advantage for this position.
