1 PhD student in the research education subject: Plant Genetics
Mechanisms underlying unreduced gamete formation in Arabidopsis
Project description: This project aims at exploring molecular mechanisms governing unreduced gamete formation in Arabidopsis and to exploit this knowledge to generate tools for plant breeding.
Research environment: The successful applicant will work in the research group of Claudia Köhler at the Department of Plant Biology and Forest Genetics at the SLU, Uppsala. The department offers a creative and stimulating international environment, and is one of six departments that make up the new cluster ?Uppsala BioCenter? at SLU. Project funding and start: This is a VR and departmental funded project for a four-year PhD programme according to current SLU guidelines. Project start will be January 2013.
Qualifications
Higher university degree in biology/molecular biology/ genetics (Degree of Master or Master of Science) with emphasis on molecular genetics, plant physiology, and developmental biology. Documented experience in lab work in molecular biology is highly valued. The selection will be based on the written application, CV, diploma/exam work, personal references, good knowledge in English and an interview.

A person has basic eligibility for third level education if he or she has taken a second level qualification or has completed course requirements of at least 240 higher education credits, including at least 60 higher education credits at second level.
Those who met the requirements for general eligibility before July 1st, 2007, i.e. had completed a programme of higher education for at least 180 Higher education credits or the equivalent, will continue to do so until the end of 2015."
Selection among applicants meeting the requirements is made with reference to written application including curriculum vitae, copies of degrees and transcripts of academic records, one copy of the dissertation for masters or undergraduate degree, a list of at least two references familiar with the applicant's qualifications, certified knowledge of the English language and an interview.
