Ph.D. student position in Medicinal Chemistry at the Department of Chemistry
Description of position:
The position will include participation in a new medicinal project where the research focus will aim at new medicinal principles for discovery of sustainable active antibiotic compounds against Staphylococci. The research program will include medicinal molecular design and synthesis but also substantial parts of development and use of analytical methods, e.g. Raman, FTIR spectroscopy and microbiology (bio.) analyses. The project will throughout apply multivariate analyses to complex assessed data for knowledge generation to guide subsequent optimal drug design
Thus, experience from and skills in organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, and analytical (bio-) assessments, appears advantageous for the successful candidate.
The position will be financed by the faculty at GU.
The employment will commence as agreed.
Doctoral students education:
The doctoral student education will lead to a Ph.D in Natural Science, or Natural Sciences with a specialisation in Chemistry and comprises four years of full time study at post graduate level. The time period will be extended up to five years in total through teaching and/or departmental duties.
Qualifications:
To fulfil the basic requirements for a PhD-education you must have a higher education degree at advanced level, at least 240 higher education credit points of which at least 60 must be at advanced level, or acquired the corresponding knowledge nationally or internationally through other means.
Additional qualifications:
Experience from lab-work in industrial settings, preferrably medicinal, analytical or microbio-logical applications, will be advantageous for the successful candidate.
