Job description:
We are looking for a Ph.D. student to pursue future collision avoidance technologies. In current active safety systems, warnings and interventions are often carried out very late before an imminent collision in order to minimize the number of false interventions and alarms, which of course reduces the safety benefit. One way to improve this situation is to take the uncertainty of the input information into account. The main focus will be on threat assessment and path planning based on uncertain information.
The sensor information can be modeled as a probability distribution and then threat assessment and path planning is carried out based on this information. The goal is to achieve earlier and more efficient interventions for active safety systems in general. The specific contents of the project is also very much up to the student to decide, which also requires the applicant to be highly motivated.
A Ph.D. degree typically takes five years to complete, with a Licentiate degree after around two years. The academic supervisor for this project is with the Automatic Control group at Linköping University. During the project it is required that the student completes course work to the equivalent of two years fulltime. It is encouraged that the student spend a part of the five years abroad.
Applicant profile:
Master degree in Electrical Engineering or Applied Physics
Good knowledge and interest in probability, control theory and/or signal processing
Experience with Matlab and Simulink
Good communication skills, written and verbal, as the main output is written articles
Personal Profile:
We are looking for a motivated person ready to put a lot of personal commitment into the project. In exchange we are offering the applicant an inspiring working environment with exciting products and a huge development potential.
