AstraZeneca is now looking to hire a Team Leader for the Imaging team in Personalised Healthcare & Biomarkers.

As Team Leader for the Gothenburg Imaging team you will get the opportunity to provide line and scientific leadership to ensure that AstraZeneca project teams are provided with validated biomarker data that drives decision making in drug development.

We are looking for a scientific leader who has highly developed people management skills to lead the team and to input your imaging expertise in our portfolio. Specifically, you will be accountable for the delivery of significant work packages of as agreed with the project teams; this may include working in collaboration with internal and external partners to design scientific experiments with technical refinements of imaging biomarker methods that ensures delivery of high quality data enabling internal decision making. As the Imaging Team Leader you will work collaboratively with senior leaders in the organization in order to identify opportunities to deliver imaging capability to drug project teams.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
Provide line leadership for a team of 3 Scientists. Communicate a clear and inspirational vision based on a long-term view of the capability. Lead performance management and personal development of team members through coaching, mentoring, and motivating.
Monitor and ensure compliance with all AstraZeneca Policies and Standards and immediately address instances of non-compliance. Deliver ethical and compliant management of budget, Safety, Health and Environment within the team and on behalf of the capability as required.
Implement delivery of imaging biomarker studies for use in internal decision making by the projects and use your expertise to identify new opportunities where imaging will add significant value to internal projects.
Drive processes and experimental design for analytical validation of validated imaging biomarkers according to internal regulatory standards.
Work collaboratively with senior leaders in the organisation, working across boundaries and courageously addressing issues which may inhibit effective collaboration.

Other Responsibilities:
Contribute to the overall performance of the PHB Laboratories department
Contribute to overall Innovative Medicine & Early Development performance, internal and external scientific excellence and reputation
Maintain and develop a knowledge base of internal and external developments that will impact Personalised Healthcare & Biomarkers in the area of expertise

Essential Requirements
PhD or equivalent training with relevant post-doctoral experience
Experience in imaging methods specifically :- MRI, SPECT/CT & microCT
Line management experience
Proven record of excellent people management
International level of scientific and technical expertise in own specialist area
Knowledge of and enthusiasm for the aims and objectives of Personalised Healthcare and Biomarkers
Has managed and delivered biomarker projects
Previous experience of working with external partners
Experience of working within a project operating model, cross-functional working

Desirable Requirements
Delivered biomarker assays
Scientific and technical expertise in more than one of the areas required
Scientfic knowledge or experience of imaging as applied in cardiovascular & metabolic disease or respiratory disease
Strong publication record in peer reviewed journals
Working in a technically regulated environment, e.g. Good Laboratory Practice
Previous experience of a similar role
