Scania is now undergoing a transformation from being a supplier of trucks, buses and engines to a supplier of complete and sustainable transport solutions.

Scania is a strong, global organisation that has accumulated know-how and skills within the world of transport over the last century. With our track-record and our determination, we can make a difference in the future of transport.

At Scania we have a strong culture of developing and launching innovations that actually work at scale, in order to drive real change.

At Autonomous Transport Solutions (ATS) Research, Scania R&D, we pursue top-quality research and development of future ATS concepts in agile and self-steered teams. Together with our fellow TRATON companies, leading technology suppliers and academic institutions we work with the ambition to detect and evaluate upcoming technologies. We strive to deliver customer value through research and practical experiments in an iterative process that aims to lead to concepts for industrialization.

Does this sound like an interesting technical area? Here you will be able to shape the forefront of self-driving technologies as a research/concept engineer and have an opportunity to influence, learn and grow together with us.

Your future job

At our team you will primarily work with the perception 3D pipeline. You will design, develop, evaluate, integrate and test algorithms for object tracking and free space estimation across multi-sensor modalities (such as cameras, lidar and radar). Examples of tasks:

• Optimizing technical performance of the perception system
• Concept development
• Prototyping and testing of concepts in simulation as well as in real vehicles

You will work in a multi-cultural environment and we strive for tight collaboration with all the different teams within ATS research. We believe that cross-functional work and clear communication is the key to success.

Your profile

You are an analytical, result-oriented, self-driven team player that face new challenges with a positive, can-do attitude. You are not afraid to test ideas in reality and make them work. You are open and curious towards your teammates and you enjoy supporting and contributing to the development with your technical expertise and ideas.

• Experience within C++ software development
• PhD or MSc degree in physics, robotics, software engineering, computer science, electrical engineering or similar
• You thrive when faced with complex challenges and can quickly adapt to new tasks
• Interest in algorithms for perception and sensor fusion
