This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced biochemical scientist to work with preclinical pathology biomarkers in Drug Safety and Metabolism/Innovative Medicine. Endogenous biomarkers in bodily fluids are essential to quantifiably aid pathology and medical diagnosis in a translational perspective.
The role
This role is lab-based and will explore and validate new soluble biomarkers and platforms, conduct analysis, search scientific literature, propose experimental strategy and study designs, present data, troubleshoot problems and make a significant contribution to the delivery of preclinical projects with particular reference to soluble pathology biomarkers.
Minimum experience
The successful applicant should have a Ph.D. or a M.Sc./B.Sc. degree, in relevant subjects and extensive experience in clinical pathology/biomarker/immunology work in a research environment.
Preferred experience/requirements
Ideally, the successful applicant will relevant experience in areas within biomarkers, clinical pathology or immunology from a research or clinical environment and/or and drug discovery and have skills within several of the fields below.
To independently analyze samples and validate data accuracy
To be responsible for analytical instrumentation (installation, maintenance and trouble shooting)
To validate new and develop methods and methodological platforms
To identify and solve problems associated with the experiment
To maintain a good awareness of current developments and as well as search scientific literature for new opportunities.
To critical valuate study design, protocols and results
To contribute to the continuous improvement process by identifying opportunities in the workplace where improvements can be made to be an effective team member in supporting discovery projects to meet their objectives
To show self-awareness of training needs including leadership development.
To analyze, present and communicate scientific results
To have excellent collaborative skills with internal and external contacts.
To achieve personal scientific visibility through external presentations and publications
To have good knowledge of laboratory quality and work in compliance with laboratory quality systems.
Also required, are one or more of the following skills
Skills in clinical pathology and biomarker analytical techniques, such as immune assays/multiplex technologies, PCR/microRNA, haematology, FACS and LC/MS.
Scientific analytical skills for presentation of results, orally and written
Familiar with established methods/tools to develop and capability to validate biomarker assays and platforms
