WHO ARE YOU
We know that you believe in the power of people. We know that you have an analytical mindset where you are experienced in making decisions, developing solutions or judgments within the Intellectual Property (IP) area. We know that you are great with oral and written communication and are fluent in English (and, preferably, Swedish as well). We expect you to have a proven basic understanding of the business, the business strategies and goals along with a basic financial understanding and awareness, and how they affect IP. We want you to bring the interest in and ability to find areas of improvements and drive change within the IP area. You have an Engineering degree (B.S., M.S. or PhD. in Automotive, Physics, Mechanical, Electrical, or Software Eng.) and, preferably, an EPO or USPTO qualification (or strong desire in obtaining such qualification). You have worked at least two years within IP and engineering. You are an outgoing people person with integrity, accountability, and commitment. You are a proven team player with a service-oriented mindset. You have proven communication skills with the ability to engage, influence and convince others and to act as project leader with the responsibility for the patent aspects of projects. You also have the ability to develop IP solutions, which drive business outcomes in context of global guidelines and monetization strategies.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
In this position you will provide the Volvo Car organisation with support within the innovation area, involving invention harvesting, clearance searches, technology landscape analysis, various database searches, invention analysis, patent reviews, and supervision of external advisors providing support in such matters. You will independently handle most aspects of an assigned part of the IP portfolio relating to designs and utility patents. You will receive, review and make recommendations on externally-submitted ideas and patent acquisitions. Another responsibility within this role is to handle most matters independently and assume the full responsibility for relevant parts of the business organisation. You will support the IP team in technology licensing and other monetization activities while also providing internal IP and innovation training.
