Chassis Systems and Control is part of the Vehicle Hardware unit within Product and Quality at Volvo Car Group. The Wheel Suspension section is responsible for the delivery of the complete technical offer to meet the Vehicle Control & Chassis mission of delivering systems that make us leading within Driving Dynamics. In total, the Wheel Suspension Section has the complete development responsibility for sensors/components, systems, software and functions within the following areas:

• Structure parts such as subframes, links, knuckles and bearings

• Mechatronics such as active dampers and air springs incl. all active suspension functions

• Tuning parts such as springs, dampers and bushings

• Integration of wheel suspension parts into a complete system HW and Mechatronics

The Section is divided in three groups: Mechanical Structure Suspension, Mechatronics & Tuning Suspension and Suspension System.


Now we are in the search for new dedicated colleagues for the group Mechanical Structure Suspension, who will act as Component responsible engineers. We are moving more and more towards in-house design and are looking for several of "build to print" Design engineers. In this role you will act as task leader and take over one whole component responsibility. You will be working with designing parts and also in some cases with integration of supplier developed parts. You will work closely with e.g. NVH, Vehicle Dynamics, Strength & Durability centre and teams responsible for surrounding components.



We are now looking for engineers to the following positions:

• Design Engineer Subframe -working closely with system suppliers mainly in our current projects but also with future programs; where Catia knowledge is a merit.

• Design Engineer Links and Knuckles project - working in our current projects with both build to print and system suppliers; involving both CAD design and design task lead

• Design Engineer Links and Knuckles new Projects -working with future programs; involving both CAD design and design task lead



We offer you an exciting challenge, where you will be able to develop team leading skills and complete vehicle knowledge at the same time. You will have the opportunity of having component ownership, hence cover the time, technique, cost and quality responsibilities for the component.



Main responsibilities


Technical responsibility for one or several of parts e.g. Subframes, Knuckles, Linkarms
Delivery within agreed time/cost/technic frames throughout all development phases of a vehicle project
Take the responsibility for technical regulations and design release of models and drawings
Secure mutual agreement with other systems and functions needed to provide total function
Handle supplier contacts and be active in sourcing activities from an engineering perspective
Contribute in drawing up component strategies to ensure Volvo's position as a leader in the fields of Vehicle Dynamics



Required qualifications


MSc or BSc in Mechanical engineering or other equivalent education
Knowledge of Catia V5
Product development and project management experience
Experience or genuine interest in automotive technology
Experience from structure parts design and "build to print" design is a merit
Fluency in English, spoken and written
Driver's license "B"
