We are currently recruiting an organic polymer chemist for a synthesis development project focused on preparation of porous polymeric particles and monolithic materials for chromatographic separations.
This temporary full time position of six month duration will include active synthesis work and characterization of micrometer-sized polymeric resins with designed mesoporous structures.
You who apply must have a Master of Science in chemistry with documented experience from polymer particle synthesis procedures such as precipitation polymerization and dispersion polymerization. You need to be familiar with chromatographic processes and materials and with the correlation between physical properties and performance. Moreover must the candidate be well acquainted with the synthesis and pore formation processes of monolithic materials, including effects of porogens, solvents, co-solvents, and surface active agents.
The position requires documented safety training and laboratory experience with monomers and crosslinkers such as styrene, divinylbenzene and various methacrylates within the procedures described above.
The employment also requires qualified training in data interpretation from material characterization techniques such as pore characterization by nitrogen cryosorption according to the Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) and Barrett-Joyner-Halenda (BJH) principles, as well as electron microscopy.
Good oral and written communication skills in English are finally required.
