We are now looking for an Optics Engineer to join our Core Technologies Imaging Platforms team within Research & Development.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
As Optics Engineer you will join a highly skilled and experienced team that drives the optics agenda and technology within Axis. You will be involved in mainly three different activities:
Our optics engineers spend a lot of time with the different optics vendors used by Axis, both in USA, Japan and China. You will interact with them in technical matters as well as roadmap activities. You will build a tight and trustworthy relationship with them, and meet then regularly both via phone/email as well as face-to-face. You will meet them in Lund, and also travel to them a couple of times a year. You will drive and participate in joint innovation and development. Core Technologies has a responsibility to provide the Axis product development organization with key technologies, from early roadmap activities to technical details during product development and launch. Your presence towards the product development organization will be key for Axis to continue deliver innovative and high quality products, in your case around optics. You will drive and participate in joint innovation and development also towards the product organization’s engineers and product managers. We have a very advanced optics lab where we measure optics, both in order to secure quality but equally important as part of our innovation. You will perform measurements on optics technology from early concept development to product details.
You will also cooperate tightly with the Axis operations organization around roadmap, forecast, cost, manufacturing, etc. in order to together select the best solutions for Axis.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
We believe you have a genuine interest in optics, and a Master’s degree in engineering physics, electrical engineering or similar. You have at least of few years of work experience within a similar field, preferably with experience in international contacts and vendor interaction. You have experience in measurements, and have the ability to take your results and discuss them with internal and external engineers and managers. Experience around manufacturing, cost, yield etc. is considered a merit.
The role as optics Engineer is collaborative and requires the ability to interact with many people inside and outside the organization. You have good communication skills and are fluent in English, both written and verbal. Knowledge of Chinese and/or Japanese would be a plus. You enjoy cultural differences and have the ability to professionally handle relationships no matter the culture or personality of your counterpart. You are humble and helpful, and always strive for the best solutions without personal prestige. You enjoy teaching and sharing knowledge and results.
THE CORE TECHNOLOGIES IMAGING PLATFORMS TEAM
The Core Technologies Imaging Platforms team is responsible for development of imaging processing platforms on which the product development organization builds cameras. The platforms integrate image processing with the optics systems and sensor technology. The team is also a competence center for the R&D organization in areas of image processing, sensor technology and optics.
