During 15 intense and exciting months, the program will give you a holistic view of the Volvo Group's global truck manufacturing organization. You will get to know our different brands and their plants and learn about our logistics organizations and activities. You will take a deep dive into some specific areas of our business such as manufacturing, health and safety, quality, and continuous improvements, while also learning about the end to end supply chain, aftermarket parts, and our remanufacturing operations.
In parallel, you will grow as a person, through individual and team development sessions. You will have a permanent position from day one, with a manager and mentor to support you. You will experience several "on-the-job" rotations and have the opportunity to work on real project assignments. In addition, you will join a number of learning modules where you get together with other program participants to take part in trainings and events designed to help you grow into your future career at the Volvo Group.
Position -Automation Engineer
Our organization:
Volvo Group Trucks Operations Europe and Brazil Manufacturing in Umeå, manufactures truck cabs for the European market and cab parts for the global market.
The cab plant in Umeå has a capacity of 75,000 cabs per year and is Norrland's largest manufacturing industry with approximately 1,400 employees. The production facility is one of the world's most modern cab plants with advanced manufacturing technology based on robots and computerized monitoring. The production is based on customer orders. This means that each cab is unique and made entirely according to customer requirements. With customers' success as our drive, we continuously improve our production and logistic setup in order to be the most successful cab manufacturer and to deliver a premium quality cab.
This is us, your new team:
We are a team of 4 senior automation engineers who take great pride in our work. We work mainly in Umeå within our processes stamping, body in white and paint. We work close with technicians, engineers and project managers to achieve our goals.
As an automation engineer you will work with continuously improving and adapting our processes for new products. Right now we are doing a very exciting and challenging journey toward industry 4.0. As a team we work together in an atmosphere of trust, passion and change.
Main activities and responsibilities:
We are looking for a committed Automation Engineer to help us make Umeå an even better factory in cabs manufacturing. Programming is our main focus for this job and you will work in a high-level technical environment and be part of new ideas that can be applied in our daily work.
The main activities are:
PLC Programming in Siemens Step7 and TIA
Cross-functional projects
Support production improvements

To be successful in this role you will possess the following qualifications and skills:
Bachelor or Master of Science (industrial, electronics, computer or automation engineering)
Maximum two years of previous working experience, prior to or after graduation.
Programming related working experience
Excellent spoken and written English
Process oriented, analytical and a hands-on mentality
Good at problem solving
Fluently spoken and written Swedish is a merit
Lean knowledge or experience is a merit
A valid work permit for Sweden is a must
