AkzoNobel is implementing ALPS (AkzoNobel Leading Performance Systems), ensuring company-wide standardized processes, a culture of continuous improvement, process-centric behaviors, company values and required capabilities. ALPS focusses on Manufacturing (mainly production, maintenance, technology, QC), Supply Chain, Procurement, HSE and Engineering.

We are now looking for three Operational Excellence Team Experts who will work in the Manufacturing area and be responsible for ALPS deployment and after care at sites in the Specialty Chemicals business area.

Responsibilities
As an Operational Excellence Team Expert, you will be a member of a global team that implements ALPS at sites in 13 week implementation waves. In-depth knowledge of ALPS processes and methodologies will be part of your training for the role.
Throughout these 13 weeks you will be working on validation of assessment results, building the future state design for the site, developing an implementation plan and implementing the key processes, tools and standards.

Your responsibilities will include:
• - Validation (executed with site team):

• Validate Site Assessment using observations/work load analysis, - process flows, maintenance and reliability data etc
• Identify gaps in required processes
• Quantify potential of improvement levers
• Prioritize improvement processes and enablers
• Build implementation plan
• Develop plan for providing training to site personnel for improving required skills & knowledge
• Develop site critical organizational and behavior change plan

• - Implementation:

• Prepare detailed implementation plan
• Train site users on relevant manufacturing and lean processes
• Coach and train site management and site team on leading and implementing change and on the relevant processes
Implement processes, standards and tools.
• Support the changes, coach and modify where applicable
• Hand-over the process to site team, observe and report use of new processes

After the ALPS implementation team leaves the site support from the team is continued. The site is visited on a regular basis and supported in sustaining the processes:

• Coach site work stream champions and employees
• Monitor performance against key metrics and track progress
• Continue support in optimization implementation, additional training and coaching when required
• Conduct audits on effectiveness of work processes and leadership behaviors

Qualifications
We expect applicants to have a MSc degree in Chemistry or Mechanics and 3-5 years? experience in manufacturing, preferably within process industry. Experience in Lean, Six Sigma or other continuous improvement methodologies are very beneficial.

You are a skilled communicator on all levels in the organization and have an ability to lead workshops and working groups. Other people generally see you as credible and trustworthy and appreciate your expertise.

You are good at identifying and structuring issues, running accurate analyses and synthesizing recommendations. You have an open mind and a strong desire to improve existing status, deliver good results and develop your manufacturing knowledge and skills.

You are energized by improvement; especially by helping other people to improve their work and output.

The position requires travelling, in average 75% of the time ? predominantly within home continent, but occasionally outside. A good level in English is required
