Volvo Cars Purchasing is ultimately responsible for the selection of all Volvo Cars' suppliers and has the responsibility for the procurement of all production material and services to Volvo Cars. The supply of materials and services - to the right quality, in the right quantity and on time- is essential to the smooth running of the company and to match our customer's expectations.
Interior purchasing is responsible for all purchasing activities in the area of Interior components. We purchase all ingoing interior components for all affected VCC manufacturing plants to running production as well as for new coming projects. Interior purchasing is now looking for two Operational buyers, one within the Seats & Surface material team and one within the Climate & Restraints team. The Seats & Surface material team consists of 11 persons, where 2 persons are located in Jiading, China and 1 person in Charleston, NA. The Climate & Restrains team consists of 10 persons, where 2 persons are located in Jiading, China and 1 person in Charleston, NA.
Main responsibilities
* Proactively maintain, develop and improve the supplier base within Change Management, Capacity, Constraint, Risk Management and Quality Issues
* Support global cross-functional sub council and always strive for a good and efficient team atmosphere
* Day-to-day business within the responsible area, which includes quality, capacity, warranty and constraints
* Take responsibility over relevant processes from signed agreement to start of production and in to running production business
* Working with cost reduction on a cross-functional basis
* Co-operate globally in cross-functional teams to implement decided strategies to maximize corporate synergies for VCC
* Strive to attain constant improvements and increase efficiency both at the supplier base and with internal stakeholders
* Develop commercial opportunities within the supply chain
* Establish action plans on part-specific supplier issues in running business
Required qualifications
* Commercial or technical university degree or equivalent
* Approximately 2-5 years of experience from a Buyer role and/or negotiation experience from leading projects.
* Automotive knowledge/experience/interest is positive
* Good English, written and spoken
* Computer skills (MS Office; especially Excel and Powerpoint) is a requirement
* Great ability to handle many issues/projects in parallel
* Willingness to travel

As a person, you are a flexible and result-oriented team player with a commercial thinking and an ability to independently drive and complete tasks. These roles cover a wide range of materials and processes, why it is important to have a holistic understanding and an analytical mindset. The job will also require a high ability to solve problems in a structured manner and identify opportunities for improvement. Further, you are confident working with different cultures and in cross-functional teams. Having strong communication skills and a high level of integrity are also important factors in this role.
