Description
Business Administration as a discipline entails several subfields: management, marketing, accounting and finance. Central to the discipline at Södertörn University has been the study of entrepreneurship, often in an historical perspective. At the present, we welcome applicants in all subfields, but especially those interested in international business, social entrepreneurship and sustainability. Business administration
The research must be relevant for the Baltic Sea region or Eastern Europe since the position is connected to the Baltic and Eastern European Graduate School, BEEGS
The position involves both admission to third-cycle education (that is, at doctoral level) and employment on a doctoral studentship. The intended outcome for students admitted to third-cycle education is a PhD. The programme covers 240 credits, which is the equivalent of four years of full-time study. A doctoral student's working hours should primarily be dedicated to his/her third-cycle studies.
Entry requirements and selection
The general entry requirements are one of the following:
1. a second-cycle/master level qualification
2. fulfilment of the requirements for courses comprising at least 240 credits of which at least 60 credits awarded at second-cycle/master level, or
3. the acquisition of substantially equivalent knowledge in some other way in Sweden or abroad
Specific entry requirements
A qualified applicant has the equivalent of 90 credits in Business Administration and has successfully completed second-cycle studies in business administration; or has attained the same qualifications outside of Sweden; or has previously taken some equivalent degree. Under special circumstances, the faculty board may exempt an applicant from fulfilling certain qualification requirements.
Employment
An application for a place on a third-cycle programme is also an application for employment on a doctoral studentship. The employment is for no longer than the equivalent of four years' full-time studies. Doctoral students will have the opportunity to be engaged in teaching and/or administrative tasks at the institution. These tasks may be equivalent to no more than 20 % of full-time and, in such cases, the length of the doctoral studies will be extended accordingly. The provisions relating to employment on a doctoral studentship are stated in the Higher Education Ordinance, Chapter 5, Sections 1-7. The first date of employment is September 1, 2016.
