The optimisation of our portfolio of oncology products is crucial to being able to deliver life-changing medicines to patients. This is an opportunity to play a pivotal role in channelling our scientific capabilities to make a positive impact on changing patients' lives. GPPM (Global Portfolio and Project Management) drives development of our innovative pipeline, transforming exciting science into valued new medicines.
Role
The position will closely partner with the Head of Oncology Portfolio Strategy & Management to optimally manage the Oncology portfolio, including supporting the annual Therapy Area Strategy process by, for example managing, the Oncology New Opportunities process. These activities, in addition to liaising with key partner functions and working with senior leaders to inform trade-off decisions that may be required to manage resource utilization across the portfolio, will ensure that the Oncology portfolio is being managed against annual targets.
Responsibilities
Portfolio Management
You will have a very detailed understanding of our projects within the Oncology portfolio, including critical drivers and milestones for the portfolio and changes which are happening in the organization or external environment which are impacting our portfolio. This will enable you to:
* Provide portfolio context to inform decision-making.
* Be responsible for data accuracy of our portfolio data system (PIVOT) and a number of reoccurring business cycle deliverables, such as Pipeline Table, Launch date reviews, monthly reports, QBR input, etc
New Opportunities Management
As Portfolio Director you will be accountable for the annual New Opportunities process which identifies potential lifecycle management options across the portfolio and determines which options should proceed towards governance decisions.
As part of this you will:
* Evaluate options in the strategic context of the company's total oncology portfolio and against the goals of our long-terms strategy and provide appropriate recommendations. Ensure that the process efficiently meets business needs while also matching the level of rigor in evaluating new opportunities with their maturity.
* Make sure that New Opportunities are evaluated against commitments made at LRP and prioritized to ensure resources are provided for the most critical opportunities.
* Propose and work to implement improvements in the process from year to year.
Governance Guidance
With your understanding of the decision-making process and governance requirements, you will serve as a key liaison for GMLs and GPT members seeking guidance.
Portfolio Strategy
Support portfolio strategy by providing and analysing key data and criteria. You will then use these outputs to drive key strategic approaches and support the development of Therapy Area strategies and prioritization.
Requirements
To succeed in this role you will have extensive understanding of business processes within the context of global drug development. You will have experience in analysing data to inform strategy. As an excellent collaborator you will be an influential leader with strong stakeholder management skills, meaning that you can effectively interact with colleagues at all levels of the organization.
In addition you will also have:
* BS or BA degree in Business, Science, Finance, Market Research, or similar subject.
* Significant experience working within a global biopharma environment, resulting in deep understanding of the industry and drug development.
* Expertise of /experience in development decision-making for program investments.
* Proven analytical skill set with demonstrated attention to detail, with strong understanding of how investment decisions are made in pharmaceutical industry.
* Ability to deal with constant change and a fast-paced environment, ability to manage through complex and highly interdependent issues.
Desirable:
* MA or MBA.
* Background in strategic consulting and/or analytics.
* Experience in Oncology.
