hela Sverige The Environment, Safety & Health Division at the European Spallation Source (ESS) in Lund, Sweden, invites applications for an Occupational Health Safety (OHS) Engineer.
Description of directorate/division
The Environment, Safety & Health (ESH) Division, reporting to the Associate Director of ESH and Quality supports, monitors and assures the implementation of ESS policies, rules, processes, objectives as well as best practices at all levels of the organization in ESH matters. This includes OHS aspects for design, installation and commissioning as well as the future operation of the facility. Presently, there is a team of 12 persons and the division will expand its staff and activities the upcoming years in order to meet the needs of the organisation.
Description of the position
Today, the ESH division has one OHS engineer, mainly dealing with OHS issues for the design of the future facility. He is also supporting the small ESS laboratories of today. The new position as OHS engineer focuses upon supporting the installation of the ESS machine (accelerator, target) and the instruments.
The position includes the following task and responsibilities:
• To support the work environment coordinators for any shared workplaces during installation and commissioning
• To participate in building up the required rules and guidelines for the ESS framework of OHS, including templates and training
• To support the ESS line organisation with different OHS services, such as Regulations & Requirements and risk assessments
• To participate in the implementation of a healthy safety culture at ESS.
• To participate in building up the future OHS working group of the ESH division.
Qualifications
You have a well-developed ability to listen, consult others and to communicate proactively with a high level of integrity. Building wide and effective networks of contacts both inside and outside the organization comes naturally to you. We believe that you have senior expertise and operational experience from construction sites where installations of complex technical systems and components have been done. You have basic knowledge of the European Legislation regarding electrical safety.
Your English skills need to be very good in both verbal and written form. Experience of working in an international collaborative environment would be an asset .

Duration & Location
The position is permanent with six months initial probationary period, the position is to be filled as soon as possible. Your work place will be situated in Lund, Sweden.
