Volvo Group Trucks Technology (GTT) is a Business Unit within the Volvo Group, which provides effective global solutions in the areas of product planning, purchasing, product development and Product Range Management for the four truck companies; Mack Trucks Inc., Nissan Diesel, Renault Trucks and Volvo Truck Corporation.
On-board Telematics (OBT) is a global department within GTT Vehicle Engineering, established to secure connected vehicles supporting the increasing demand for soft products. The telematics components build a global telematics platform utilized by the brands within the Volvo group.

OBT System Leader
As a System Leader, you will be working in a global team responsible for systemization of hardware and software components for telematics based services. You will be the technical leader for the pre-study, which targets having well analyzed concepts, to define how the project shall implement the product change. You will be responsible for developing and proposing technical concepts which take into consideration project scope, current limitations, telematics platform and technical limitations. You will be required to understand the system architecture both in the vehicle and in the back-office systems, current telematics strategies, on-board system as well as having deep technical knowledge with some key areas.
We are looking for an experienced system engineer who is structured, thorough and have a high level of technical interest. As we work in a complex and big organization, it is important that you have good communication skills and networking capability.
You need to be good at abstracting information, to create a pedagogical overview of system solutions at the same time as highlighting important details.
Your work will consist of reviewing input requirements and project scope at project start-up, together with the PM plan the pre-study and resource needs, and then identifying possible concepts and analyzing them until a recommendation can be made. For smaller pre-studies you will do the analysis yourself, and for large pre-studies you will lead a team that together performs the necessary investigations. Usually the System Leaders have a couple of pre-studies ongoing in parallel.
Required Qualifications
• Master?s degree in electronics / computer engineering or equivalent education
• Minimum 5 years working experience in product development
• Very good understanding of system development of embedded real-time systems
• Good understanding of embedded software and HW development
• Technical knowledge within relevant areas
• Leadership skills proven in use
• High competence in global communication and networking
• Well spoken and written English
Meriting Qualifications
We consider experience from vehicle product development to be a merit. We also see domain specific knowledge in the Telematics domain, and specific competence within the areas of security or cITS as meriting.
