You, Us & The Job
As an observability specialist, you will be at the forefront of our transformation, bringing new perspectives and ideas that help us rethink how we work with technology. Your expertise will be central in tackling challenges and shaping the role observability plays in supporting PostNord's complex IT landscape.
Within Group IT, the central Observability & Monitoring team helps deliver the insights that make this possible - turning metrics, logs, traces, and dashboards into tools that enable more than 70 product teams to build reliable and transparent services. We foster a culture of innovation, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement. As an Observability Engineer, you will help us evolve and operate our observability platform while driving PostNord's observability maturity to the next level.
What will you do?
In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that our observability platform is stable, scalable, and cost-efficient, while supporting teams across PostNord to succeed with observability best practices.
Your tasks will include:
- Operate and evolve the observability platform - keep our stack (Grafana Cloud, Loki, Thanos/Mimir, Tempo, Pyroscope) reliable, scalable, and cost-efficient while continuously improving features and integrations.
- Enable product teams with better insights - help over 70 teams instrument their applications with high-quality metrics, logs, traces, and SLOs, ensuring observability becomes a natural part of development and operations.
- Build tailored observability solutions - for teams lacking the skills or resources to do it themselves.
- Secure platform performance across hybrid infrastructure - optimize and troubleshoot workloads running in Kubernetes and on-prem, ensuring smooth operations in a complex hybrid landscape.
- Automate for resilience - design and implement monitoring, alerting, and incident response workflows that reduce toil, speed up detection, and improve recovery times.
- Drive collaboration through data - work closely with developers, infrastructure, and platform teams to diagnose issues, improve system reliability, and make decisions based on observability data.
- Contribute to maturity and standards - document best practices, create guidelines, and help raise observability capabilities across the organization.
We are looking for a collaborative, proactive, and service-minded engineer who enjoys enabling others through reliable platforms. You are curious and adaptable, with a strong technical foundation and a structured way of working. You take responsibility for your tasks, communicate clearly, and contribute positively to team culture.
Your experience:
- Strong knowledge of Linux system administration.
- Extensive experience with observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus/Mimir, Loki, Tempo, or similar.
- Experience with Kubernetes (OpenShift/EKS) and containerized workloads.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure/AWS) and hybrid IT environments.
- Scripting/automation skills (e.g., Python, Go, Bash).
- Fluent in English (Swedish is a plus).
You should furthermore have experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Helm, or ArgoCD, as well as familiarity with profiling solutions like Pyroscope. Certifications in cloud platforms, Kubernetes, or observability technologies are considered meritorious.
