Volvo Cars is on an exciting journey, redefining the automotive experience by innovating to make people's lives less complicated. We offer you a once-in-a-lifetime chance to make an impact in a company with unique opportunities to grow and make a true difference.
What's in it for you?
The OBD (On Board Diagnostics) teams in the department Vehicle Propulsion are involved early in the development of new powertrain concepts. It is a large challenge to develop solutions which both meet legal OBD requirements and have maximum robustness not causing customer disturbances. The teams are responsible for development of system solutions, functional design, calibration and verification in full-scale test cars. We realize our ideas through the development of monitors/ functionality software in a number of embedded control systems. During calibration phase, we arrange expeditions to various places in the world to test our hypotheses in different environments e.g. warm/cold climate combined with altitudes from sea level to high altitude roads in the Alps.
The Diagnostic group for Air, Thermal, Oil & Fuel OBD is divided into 2 agile teams working according to SAFe principles. One team is responsible for Concept & Functional development for OBD monitors. The other team is responsible for Calibration & Verification of OBD monitors. Both teams are working within the areas of air charge-, fuel-, thermal- and hybrid vehicle cooling-system. You will work in the Concept & Functional development of around 9 people.
What you'll do
We are looking to strengthen our team with an additional Software & Concept Developer for OBD systems. You will work as a concept developer or Air, Thermal, Oil & Fuel OBD Systems and act in early phases with legal interpretation, concept and software development. You will participate during legal interpretation meeting and work with analysis and development of requirements for Air, Thermal, Oil & Fuel OBD Monitors. Further, you will plan the development of the functional design and calibration process as well as follow up on functional design and calibration of monitors. Liaison with internal and external suppliers will also be included in your work tasks, as well as evaluation and problem analysis.
Do you fit the profile?
We believe you have a M.Sc degree in Mechatronic, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience. You have experience from control systems, diagnostics, function requirements, software development and calibration/optimization. You have the capability to understand complex systems and functions and are experienced in using commercial simulation tools such as Matlab/Simulink or Targetlink. Fluency in English (written and spoken) and Driver's license B are also required (please specify in your CV).
It is meritorious if you have experience in some of the following:
* Embedded Control Systems
* Calibration tools such as ATI Vision or ETAS Inca
* Measurement data evaluation and analysis from test drivers and expeditions
* Working experience from the automotive industry
On a personal level
In order to succeed in this role, you need to be self-managed, proactive and reliable. You are well organized and have a structured approach. Your attitude is positive and you are open-minded with the ability to work effectively as part of an engineering team.
You should have the passion for complex control systems, and want to further develop in the area.
