Experienced OBD (On Board Diagnostics) Calibration Engineer

The Combustion system department is responsible for the global platform development of Combustion systems for Volvo Group's heavy duty truck engines around the world.
We develop hardware as well as the features and functionalities. We are accountable for the lifecycle management of our products, from advanced engineering, through product development project into the maintenance phase.
The engine calibration team is responsible for calibration of all the software functions for engine control. With new concepts, new CO2-demands and emission legislation, our team develops new innovative calibration solutions.. With our understanding of the real-life performance of the engine system in our customers operation, we will design the best solutions for robust and effective features.

Work description:
As an OBD calibration engineer, you and the team will understand the legal and customer requirements, and will design robust calibration solutions. The work involves the entire chain; from early concept development to maintaining the calibration in our production fleet. A working day can be both simulations in front of the computer, as well as driving a truck, testing your developed calibration! Working with OBD you will also deal with statistics, DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Codes), understanding adequate statistical separation.

Responsibilities and tasks will be:
• Break down of requirements from certification and other stakeholders. Analyze and design robust calibration of the control strategies to meet OBD regulation and accurate fault detection
• Analyse, calibrate and verify engine OBD control strategies in software using Matlab/Simulink and ATI Vision
• Document and report OBD calibration. Write calibration guidelines
• Participate in system engineering work supporting the engine product, together with Quality and Customer Satisfaction, software- and Aftermarket Engineers
• Participation in networks, joining certification engineers and specialists to cascade information from OBD related activities in the company affecting team
• Share the OBD disciplined knowledge within the team, and interact organizationally upon need

Required skills and qualifications:
To be able to take on this challenge successfully we believe that you will possess the following skills and competencies:
• Degree from technical university or similar technical education
• Experience from OBD calibration
• As a part of a global organization it is important to be fluent in English, both spoken and written
