Orial Innovation is a deep tech research-based startup that is developing a new and groundbreaking technology for nuclear fusion energy. The technology builds on the levitated magnetic dipole concept, a unique magnet configuration that can confine plasma with excellent confinement and stability properties. From a plasma-physics point of view, it may be the ideal way to confine plasma magnetically, which was demonstrated in the LDX project (

We are now in the process of combining the excellent results from the LDX project with a set of new key innovations to unlock the potential of the levitated magnetic dipole as a practical and affordable fusion energy source. Our team comprises leading experts across multidisciplinary fields, that are coming together to make nuclear fusion energy a reality. We are located in Lund, Sweden.
Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role located in Lund, Sweden, for a Nuclear Fusion Engineer. As a Nuclear Fusion Engineer you will develop and evaluate components and systems for a levitated dipole fusion device; perform lab prototype development and design; perform engineering physics for power electronics, vacuum mechanics and high field magnets; perform modeling and simulations of fusion plasma and fusion engineering systems; and work with external suppliers to develop and evaluate components for the fusion device. You will also be responsible for developing new and innovative solutions to the technical challenges facing the project, and working on leading-edge technology with a team of scientists and engineers.

Your profile
PhD or MSc in systems engineering, engineering physics, or related fields
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, and the ability to self-motivate and work independently
Clear and concise communication skills in English, both written and verbal, and the ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team environment
You must be an EU citizen or have a permit to work in Sweden
Experience from power electronics engineering or vacuum engineering is a plus
Experience of working in a nuclear fusion research environment is a plus
