We are now looking for a NMR scientist for an assignment in the Structural analysis team at the AstraZeneca research site in Mölndal, Sweden. Starting date is 1st of September.
The Structural analysis team is part of the Medicinal Chemistry Department, which has a size of about 140 persons. The department includes, besides Medicinal Chemists, also teams working with analytical techniques like NMR and LC-MS, high throughput purification and preparative chromatography.
At the moment the team is under a transition period due to the start of the R&I organisation in Mölndal.
The future Structural Analysis team will consist of a Team Leader , five NMR scientists and four compound analysis experts using HPLC and MS.
We are looking for a NMR scientists to support our team.
All NMR at the site is centralised to the Structural Analysis group so even if the majority of the work is to support Medicinal Chemists (~200) on several departments we also have a lot of collaborations with scientists in other departments. The lab is equipped with 8 NMR spectrometers (400-600 MHz), some with cryoprobe technology and one with LC-NMR-SPE.
The position as NMR scientist will mainly focus on supporting Medicinal Chemists and Drug Discovery projects.
The daily work will primarily involve all aspects of the structure elucidation of small organic molecules, which includes training chemists to perform experiments and interpret spectra, advise chemists on how they can solve their problems and maintenance of user accounts, user interface and system controls. It also involves high-througput NMR using plates.
The successful candidate will have at least a B.S. degree in chemistry. NMR experience including basic instrument maintenance is a requirement. Experience in organic chemistry and an understanding of small molecule chemistry is an advantage. Strong communication skills and a demonstrated ability to carry out independent research are required. Strong interest and motivation to learn new technologies and concepts is expected.
