Job Title: Sales Supervisor
Reports To: Sales Manager or Assistant Store Manager
Job Purpose :
To supervise the day-to-day operation of their area of responsibility within the store to provide support to the management team in order to achieve the highest levels of customer service, sales and profit targets.
Main Duties:
Maximising Sales:
To supervise the sales team in order to provide excellent customer service through:
• Developing and maintaining the highest level of product knowledge
• Understanding and demonstrating customer care and high levels of customer service thereby providing an example to staff
• Organising and supervising the housekeeping, merchandising and presentation of stock, using commercial reports, e.g., UPT, ATV, HIT, space management, best sellers, in accordance with the commercial decisions of the store management team
• Maintaining and demonstrating security awareness - contributing positively to the control of stock loss and costs
• Identifying customer needs and responding to them quickly
• Efficiently controlling/managing staff resource across the floor(s) to ensure the sales area is suitably covered - remaining mobile and setting the pace
Working as Part of a Team:
To supervise, motivate and support the sales team in achieving personal and store objectives through:
• Delegating tasks and ensuring they are completed to Company standards within given timescales
• Supporting and helping colleagues with their work and getting involved in day-to-day activities, as and when required
• Showing a genuine interest in other people and willingness to help
• Having the ability and willingness to acquire job related skills and knowledge through self development and by learning from others
• To carry out additional duties as and when required e.g. acting as a key holder, training sponsor
• Demonstrating flexibility in order to meet store needs and support key events such as Christmas, sales, bank holidays and stock-take
Comminucation:
Communicates clearly and professionally at all levels
To communicate effectively with line management to ensure junior staff are:
• Adhering to all Company policies and procedures e.g. till operation, timekeeping, absence reporting procedures etc
• Adhering to management direction within the store in accordance with Company objectives
• Actively supporting and communicating with colleagues, customers and managers
Personal Effectiveness:
Displays commitment; is motivated and conscientious
Demanding of others and encourages ownership
Consistent approach to all tasks, including those outside their normal role
Confident decision maker, problem solving effectively
Shows initiative and challenges current and new practices
Essential Criteria:
Minimum of 12 months supervisory experience within a retail environment including supervising a team.
Flexible approach to hours including ability to work additional hours, statutory holidays, and Sunday when required.
