hela Sverige The Outbound Logistics function is to ensure a global strategic approach on outbound logistics by integrating strategy, network design, procurement, performance management and operational development to ensure that factory complete cars are delivered to dealers on time at minimum cost and according to specifications in line with market requirements and Volvo Car Corporation ( VCC) strategy.
The role, Network Optimization Analyst, is located within the Logistics Strategy function within the Outbound Logistics organization and will report directly to the Head of Strategy. Geographical location is Gothenburg.
Purpose:
The purpose of the Network Optimization Analyst role is to support the strategic development of a cost and lead time efficient and reliable outbound logistic network, and also prepare recommendations for changes of the network. The role is also responsible for providing purchasing function with information and data to develop and analyze RFQ's
Main Tasks:
Main tasks for the Network Optimization Analyst are to;
Continuously assesses the effectiveness of the existing global outbound logistic network through qualitative and quantitative analysis
Gather information regarding inefficiencies and wanted improvements of the network both from within the Outbound Logistics organization and directly from sales companies, logistic service providers, dealers, logistic managers and other parties
Identify and analyze improvement suggestions for optimizing the network (e.g., bundling opportunities with other OEMs, new routes, alternative transport modes etc.)
Prepare and present clear recommendations on network changes that are supported by thorough quantitative and qualitative analysis and simulations
Assess and communicate impact from major changes to the network (e.g., volumes, new dealers, new providers) to relevant stakeholders
Calculate clean sheet costs for all relevant routes and transport modes to support sophisticated evaluation of network design and to be used in preparation of supplier negotiation
Identify optimal network specifications and suggest requirements towards suppliers
Work closely with Logistics procurement to support with data on relevant routes, volumes, wanted changes in network and tender specifications for the RFQ process
Evaluate RFQs together with Logistics procurement using clean sheet calculations

The Outbound Logistics network is analysed and optimized in line with the strategy for Outbound Logistics
Identified improvements and recommendations are communicated to relevant stakeholders (e.g., Logistics Procurement, Operational Development)
Competence Requirements:
Academic degree
Experience from logistics development and/or operations
Broad knowledge and understanding of logistical and planning processes
Strong analytic and quantitative skills
Experience and understanding of optimization algorithms
Investigative nature
Knowledge of computer-based design and analysis tools-route optimization, simulation, spreadsheet, and database analysis
Experience from optimization of logistic networks and working knowledge of carrier operation, shipment routing, and distribution methods
