We at AFRY former ÅF and Pöyry are now searching for a new consultant with the profile Network Engineer for one of our customers.
In this assignment you are hired on a project basis at AFRY, with the ambition to go into an employment at our customer after 9 months
The customer
St1 is a Nordic energy company with a vision of becoming the leading producer and seller of CO2-aware energy. So far, St1 has bioethanol plants in Finland and Sweden; a refinery in Gothenburg, Sweden as well as service stations in Finland, Sweden and Norway.
The cornerstone of our business is the sale of fuels for transport and heating use to consumers and the corporate sector. In the service station business, we have St1 and Shell networks, the latter under a license agreement.
Our strong performance in the traditional fossil fuel business enables us to invest in the future and to build a solid foundation for realizing our vision through renewable energy. We are already recycling waste for fuel and using wind power to produce electricity. In the spirit of our vision, each of our solutions must be technically and economically viable and ecologically sustainable - today.
Your main tasks together with the team are to
Focus on delivering high-availability network infrastructure to sustain the online and on-site information technology activities of users. Network engineers often overlap with other roles, such as computer network architects or security systems engineers, and work internally within an organization or as outside consultants.
Design and implement network configurations, troubleshoot performance issues, carry out network monitoring and configure security systems such as firewalls.
Design, document and implement network configurations and improve resilience of the current environment
Create architectural designs of our enterprise network infrastructure and establish a network technology standard and multi-platform solutions
Contributes to network modeling, analysis, and planning
Create designs for network changes to optimize the network
Performs capacity & performance planning in order to provide "a nice word that covers internal SLAs towards business"
Maximize network performance by monitoring performance, troubleshooting network problems and outages and scheduling upgrades
Configure security systems such as firewalls
Take part of project as a project member
Manage/monitor network devices and capacity
Who are you?
You are passionate about hybrid IT and its associated technologies including Azure and Google cloud platforms with emphasis on infrastructure and automation. You have ability to quickly learn, understand, and work with new emerging technologies, methodologies, and solutions. You are part of the team making sure that network and cloud infrastructure is well designed, documented and all automation is in place. This means you need to be acting as a true team player. You also have strong technical background and experience in routing, switching, firewalls and VPNs so that you can be self-going and structured. This role is operational but network design and documentation skills are needed.
You need to have
Experience/ knowledge from SDN (software defined networking)
Computer Science, network engineer or equal related degree or certification
Deep network skills in routing/switching (at least CCNP level of certification)
Experience in LAN/WAN network configurations and firewall configurations such as Palo Alto's or Checkpoint
Good skills and understanding of advanced network protocols and architectures, virtualization and data center models Technical studies (e.g. communications engineering, computer science, automation or electrical engineering)
Experience of Cloud services (Azure and/or Google networking)
Deep understanding in one or more of the major governance frameworks (ITIL, Cobit, ISO27001)
Readiness to occasional travel within the Nordic countries
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
Minimum basic verbal and written communication skills in Swedish. Language skills in Finnish or Norwegian is considered an advantage
