The Riksbank's main tasks are to maintain price stability and to promote a safe and efficient payment system in Sweden. The Riksbank's main instrument for implementing monetary policy is the repo rate. As part of its financial stability policy, the bank makes regular assessments of risk levels in the major Swedish commercial banks and the financial infrastructure.
The Research Division is planning to hire two full-time research economists with a specialization in macroeconomic research. Research economists conduct research in areas of importance to central banking, including macroeconomics, monetary policy, financial stability, and banking. The division organizes academic conferences, hosts an international seminar series, and has an active visitors program as well as mutual visiting programs with the Federal Reserve System. Some staff members also teach part-time at a university.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Research Division plans to fill two vacancies for a senior or junior research economist, as of 2013, with expertise in research on macrofinance, macro - or monetary economics. People applying for a senior position should have a solid research background in their field. People applying for a junior position need to have obtained a PhD in economics, or be close to doing so.
Candidates are expected to produce high-quality research for publication in peer-reviewed journals and to provide policy support, mainly to the Monetary Policy Department but possibly also to the Financial Stability Department. Accordingly, an ability to present complex issues effectively and to communicate research results and analytical findings to policymakers is very important. The average distribution between research and policy work is 80/20.
