Ghost Games is now looking for a Narrative Director to join the team. As a Narrative Director you will be reporting to the Creative Director and be responsible for how story is told in the game, how it enhances and supports the gameplay and creates emotional connections in the game. This is crucial in creating a compelling game experience.
Who will you work with?
Work closely with your narrative team and creative director, and the following departments: game design, audio, cinematics, marketing and localisation.
What you'll do
• Collaborate closely with design to integrate the story into the core game.
• Create a story that covers the player's progression arc.
• Draft scenes together with design, laying out the ground work for writer(s).
• During development, you will maintain and safeguard the narrative.
• You will be central in establishing and communicating the style and tone of in-game cinematics and dialogues.
• You will be the main point of contact for any writer(s) that work on the game's story, character briefs and dialogue.
• The ideal candidate has worked with game design, writing and cinematics in AAA titles for several years and understands the complexities of telling a story in an interactive medium.
Production of full design outline for narrative assets:
• Tone guide
• Character(s) biog.
• Cut scene outline
• Proposed channels for narrative delivery inc. content list and scope.
• Develop backgrounds, motivations, and voices for the core NPCs
• Secondary dialogue delivery (e.g. mission dialogue, etc.)
• Tertiary dialogue (e.g. gameplay "barks", menu choice comments, etc.)
Strong knowledge of the production of cutscenes to include:
• On set direction and/or on hand to ensure broad tonal delivery.
• Script-writing
• Live action filming
• Motion capture
• Voice direction
• Casting process.
• Champion narrative delivery via audio.
• Understanding of the importance of marketing and press campaigns in relation to the narrative.
