Publiceringsdatum2016-02-22ArbetsuppgifterThe International School of Älmhult has grown rapidly since it opened in 2000 and has a current population of over 200 students. Situated in Älmhult in southern Sweden it is a state school with support from Ikea of Sweden. The local area, which has a population of approx. 16 000, is peaceful and situated in an attractive area with nearby lakes and forests. The small town of Växjö is easily reached by either rail or road, as are other large cities in the region and the Continent. The school was authorised for The International Baccalaureate's Primary Years Programme in May 2003 and for The Middle Years Programme in May 2009. The school is international and has a friendly atmosphere. The classes are small and all lessons are given in English.
Älmhults High School, Haganäs, is in a strong development phase and introducing more programs and the Diploma Programme is one of them! The DP is preceded by a "Pre-Diploma year" to make up the 3 years of Swedish High School.
The premises of Haganäs has not only high school programs, but also SFI, adult education, and special education. There are about 460 youth students and 150 adult students. The school offers 12 National and Introduction Programs and our profile is focusing on Internationalization, Entrepeneurship, and Health and Lifestyle. The tasks for this post will be to:
• teach in MYP classes at International School of Älmhult or Pre-DP classes at Haganäs; students age 11-19 years. (language of instruction: English)
• there is a possibility it could also include teaching within the regular Swedish curriculum at Haganäs (language of instruction: Swedish)
• undertake all teaching responsibilities as outlined by IBO and the school.
• be a mentor teacher
• attend required meetings and educations.
• complete documentation as required.
• work collaboratively with staff at the school and other schools.
The applicant must have a good spoken and written English. Additionally, having good spoken and written Swedish is a benefit.
KvalifikationerThe successful applicant will have a adequate level of education (university or similar) in appropraite subjects. The applicant must be flexible and able to respond to the needs of a changing team within a growing workplace. You must be excited by the development of the school and be able to think independently to make good decisions. Our school is multi cultural and you must have an interest in working in an international environment with different cultures. Collaboration is a key word in our school.
We are looking for a member of staff with IBO teaching experience and who has attended IBO courses.
To teach in the Pre Diploma Programme, you will need to have Swedish teacher legitimation.
The right candidate for this position will go on to teach in the Diploma Programme at Haganäs once the school is authorized by the IB.
