We are an IB school, which means that we are progressive and work to develop the skills for the 21st century and prepare our students for an ever-changing world. The school has developed and grown over the past five years, so we now have around 500 students. In 2017, we moved into our new home: a modern and eco-friendly building, with a lot of open space and light. The school is in the town of Älmhult, southern Sweden, which is a safe and convenient place for families to live.

As our MYP Coordinator you will be an important part of our team at MYP and the International School of Älmhult. As a coordinator you are responsible for:
• Quality Management
• Programme Development MYP
• Resource Management MYP
• Communication
• Pedagogical Management MYP, o.a.
This means, for example, that you lead, participate and facilitate in curriculum development meetings and internal PD sessions to implement latest pedagogical practices. You demonstrate reflective leadership practice that values feedback. As a coordinator, you work closely with our teachers and encourages them to see themselves as researchers and support their inquiries into pedagogy according to the schools professional goals requirements. You ensure that teachers have an inclusive classroom where they differentiate the teaching and learning opportunities for all learners and that there are a balance between interdisciplinary and disciplinary learning.
As our coordinator you will also:
• Model the constructivist approach, including inquiry, during meetings or workshops focusing on gaining a better understanding of the requirements of the program.
• Model and promote the IB learner profile, International Mindedness and Service as action.
• Ensure that the curriculum promotes students making connections, thinking conceptually and critically, reflecting on their own learning and working towards contributing to the Community.
• Ensure and reinforce the cognitive value of the learning experiences planned for the units and stand alone, by mapping and ensuring the use of learning objectives.
• Monitor the use of inquiry as a pedagogical approach through classroom observations.
• Implementation of the MYP curriculum framework
• Development of the written curriculum
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone with IB coordinator experience, flexible and effective communicator in all forms of English, written and spoken. The successful applicant will also:
• Be able to respond positively to change.
• Be able to collaborate effectively.
• Work positively and effectively with staff and parents.
• Be able to lead the development of the IB curriculum with coming changes.
• Be able to lead the team for its Self-study and Re-evaluation visits
Additionally, any of the following should be met:
• Leadership experience
• IB Self-study and evaluation or authorization experience
Preference may be given to:
• Ability to read and speak basic Swedish
• Understanding of the Swedish school system
A teaching qualification is a must.
