hela Sverige Massive is now looking for a Game Designer to join an international team, working on a AAA MMO project. In this position you will focus on the Player vs. Player aspects of the game, making sure that it is accessible to inexperienced players yet deep and endless for the most competitive and experienced ones. You will work closely with other designers responsible for player classes and balancing.
Responsibilities
• You will play a central role in defining and maintaining the PvP vision, together with the Lead Game Designer and the rest of the design team.
• You will design gameplay systems in order to provide players with the best PvP experience possible.
• You will communicate the intended purpose of a system, identify the needs to realize it and be responsible for implementing the system from conception all the way to tweaking it in-game.
You as a candidate
As a Game Designer, you should be absolutely passionate about games and the craft of game design, and be comfortable with taking initiative and independently find creative solutions to complex problems. You have a very clear idea of what makes competitive multiplayer fun and interesting and know exactly what - if not done correctly - can make it frustrating and boring. You should also be comfortable working within a multidisciplinary team, where you will be expected to - through collaboration - achieve the highest quality possible. You should have very high standards in everything you do and a devotion to creating the best competitive game experience ever.
Required skills and experience:
• Minimum 3 years of industry or other relevant experience
• Worked on at least 1 AAA title
• Absolute passion for playing and making games, especially MMOs
• Extended experience both playing and developing competitive multiplayer
• Extremely quality oriented
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent understanding of what makes games fun and compelling
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
• A firm grasp of basic mathematics
Additional bonus skills:
• Experience working with iterative development and quick iterations
• Experience developing third-person action games
• Experience developing MMOs or RPGs
• Experience playing PvP at a high level in a major MMO
• Programming experience
• Experience from other creative ventures (e.g. music, art, writing)
• A firm grasp of basic scripting principles
