We have furthermore developed methods that can improve the shelf life of vegetables, fresh cut fruits, flower cuttings, cut flowers and other plants. The same technology can be used to dry fruits, vegetables, herbs and spices aiming to reduce the drying time while preserving the fresh-like taste, smell and colour.
The technology opens new business opportunities for food and plant propagation industry all around the world. OptiFreeze is the result of a long period of research at the Institute of Food Technology at the University of Lund. We are now 10 people in the company and situated in Lund.
About the position
As Method Developer you are part of the R&D team and reports to the R&D Manager. You develop the OptiFreeze's methods for extended shelf life and/or preserved freshness of plants and food. The method is core for the company and an essential part of the product offering. The continuous development and improvement of the method is central for the company's future success.
You might also be involved in, together with partners, performing tests at their sites which also can include educating and training partners in OptiFreeze products.
You will also perform lab tests at our own facility in Lund, which can include evaluation of results at an external partner's site.
As Method Developer you are also responsible for the reporting and presenting of the above which includes conclusions and proposals for next steps.
About you
You have a master's degree or similar in food technology or biology and we see it as a benefit if you are experienced in Vacuum and PEF technology. As we are working in an international environment, both when it comes to colleagues as well as to customers and partnerships, you need to be fluent in English. We would like you to have at least 1 years' experience from work life.
As a person you are open and curious and customer oriented. The ability to communicate within and across teams is essential and we are working close which means you need to be collaborative and a team player.
In your work you will collect a lot of data, which requires you to be analytic and able to draw conclusions and propose and plan for the next step.
We have customers and potential partnerships across the globe, so you should like traveling, also for longer periods. Since we currently are evaluation some of our tests performed in Lund at an external partner's site, it is beneficial if you have a driving license.
Starting date & Location
We are hiring for one maternity leave for the period June 1 2020 - July 31 2021 and also for one permanent position to start as soon as possible.
You will work in Lund or any other location we find suitable depending on current projects or customer tests or installations.
