You will be responsible for the material specifications and the heat treatment processes within the Lindesberg site. Production is mainly gears and components for automotive industry. The heat treatment department runs three furnaces for case hardening of steel, two annealing furnaces, sand blasting and shot peening equipment. Yearly tonnage through heat treatment processes are 17 000 tons. The metallurgical lab will also be in your responsibility.
As metallurgical expert you will have a technical advising role in quality methods on materials and in interpretation of material versus specifications, where the activities are steered from within the Quality department. In new product programs and with new suppliers and product changes, you play an important role as key contact. In the APQP- PPAP process the heat treatment lab and the metallurgical expert has an important role, with feedback and development proposals. You will also have an important role in the Global Meritor Materials Engineering team.
Knowledge and skills expected:
• You are a Master Engineer or Ph.D. in metallurgy or materials science with minimum 5 years of experience in the industry
• You are knowledgeable about metallurgy of iron, in particular the domain of gears and low alloy steel; non-destructive testing techniques
(e.g. ultrasonic, magnetic testing)
• You have good organizational & project management skills to steer project activities
• You have good knowledge in analytical root cause analysis, six sigma skills are favorable
• You are a good communicator and can work in a cross functional team
• You are willing to travel, within projects and also to our suppliers
• You are fluent in English and Swedish
