Metal Cutting Specialist
SKF Group MDC (Manufacturing Development Centre) has a responsibility for developing new manufacturing processes and equipment for ultimate use in SKF factories distributed worldwide. Accordingly MDC endeavours to keep informed on all new technology developments and how they can be applied to improve production efficiency, quality and performance of SKF products.
In order to strengthen our knowledge in the field of metal cutting, we are looking for a person with professional experience from development of metal cutting processes and/or managing production involving metal cutting processes. SKF Group MDC develops cutting processes applied mainly on steels in both soft and hardened conditions.
Key Tasks
• To initiate, define and perform research activities and to lead projects dealing with the R&D, manufacture and installation of processes and equipment in the SKF Group.
• To promote and implement new solutions, which can increase flexibility and shorten through put times at competitive cost.
• To develop new tools and tooling systems for process control and monitoring.
• To develop and give courses for education of engineers and operators in metal cutting.
• To keep aware of external developments and translate new ideas into opportunities for the SKF Group.
• To work with universities, research institutes and suppliers to develop new competence for the SKF Group.
Requirements
• University education (MSc or PhD) preferably in metal cutting processes or equivalent technical experience.
• Several years experience in the field of metal cutting and a strong desire to perform deeper studies in this area is a big advantage.
• Experience from manufacturing is an advantage.
• A self-motivated, proactive team worker with good communication skills.
• Experience in leading projects.
• Team leading and facilitation skills.
• Pedagogical skill is an advantage.
• Good ability to speak and write in English; a second or third foreign language is an advantage (e.g. German, French, Spanish).
• Willingness to travel and to work abroad on short assignments.
