We are hiring a Medicinal Chemistry Expert to join our Medicinal Chemistry department within the Respiratory, Inflammation & Autoimmunity (RIA) therapeutic area. We are working across small to large sized synthetically accessible therapeutic modalities. This includes small molecules, PROTACs, peptides, oligonucleotides and conjugates.

You will join a highly collaborative discovery team and lead Medicinal Chemistry efforts in a specific project - managing internal and external resources. We see you as a role model that leads the science through compound design, synthesis, purification and characterization of drug candidates from target validation to lead optimization phase. You will ensure uptake of scientific developments in synthetic organic chemistry across all Medicinal Chemistry teams and projects. Furthermore, you will identify and lead efforts on collaborations and publications and provide scientific mentoring and training to other team members.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Design, synthesis and optimization of novel leads and clinical drug candidates
* Lead chemistry activities and expertise in respiratory project teams
* Efficient collaboration with both internal colleagues, academic partners and CROs
* Drive our scientific reputation by contributing with conference presentations and publications in collaboration with internal and external partners

Essential Requirements

We believe that you have a strong scientific background in Organic Chemistry with several years of professional experience. Your interpersonal skills are excellent, and you have a thrive to constantly develop both professionally and personally. In addition, you possess an ability to engage and collaborate with colleagues across boundaries. As a leader, you are perceptive and coaching.

* PhD or equivalent experience in Organic & Medicinal Chemistry
* >3 years of professional experience in drug discovery and pharmaceutical industry
* In-depth scientific knowledge in Medicinal and Synthetic Chemistry complemented by track record of publications and external presentations
* Up-to-date with the application of modern analytical and computational techniques as well as proven track record of delivery of own experimental work
* Knowledge of the pharmaceutical drug discovery and development process
