ABB:s HVDC unit (High Voltage Direct Current) develops, manufactures and constructs DC transmission systems on a global market. The HVDC-technology developed by ABB is used to transfer electrical energy over long distances and for power transmission when using undersea cables. HVDC is also used to connect power systems. HVDC Light was also developed by ABB and is now highly requested on the market. The technology is suitable for power systems where overhead lines cannot be used or where power grids need to be strengthened. HVDC Light is also used for offshore connections of platforms and wind power farms.
Challenge: At the office for mechanical plant design, we are responsible for design development for delivery projects and for tenders. Your tasks will be to act as design lead in develop layouts and installation drawings for high voltage equipment as well as to conduct mechanical calculations. You will also generate building design basis documents, suitable for ground works, buildings and steel constructions. The position also includes, with focus on costs and goals, to manage delivery projects. A typical delivery project includes three designers and a natural part of your work will be to be in contact with customers and suppliers. Contacts with customers and suppliers will be part of your work. As our projects are carried out in countries like Brazil, Ireland, PDR Congo, China and Germany, you will also have the opportunity to make business trips. Requirements: To be suitable for this position, you should have a Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering, alternatively a few years' work experience within Mechanical Design. You should also have solid understanding of design rules and different construction materials as well as experience from CAD, preferably UGS/NX and Team Center. It is qualifying if you have worked with electromechanical plant design or have experience from civil design. Further you must master Swedish and English, written and spoken alike. Additional language skills are positive. Our projects are conducted in teams, so to thrive you need to be open-minded and collaborative. To be successful in this position, it is also crucial that you are thorough and have a good mind for prioritizing.
